About Kachchh University, Gujarat (KCU)

Kachchh University is a Regional University which was founded via Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University Act announced in the Govt. Gazette in March 2003. It's foundation stone was laid by Hon'ble Chief Minister Gujarat State for starting the construction work of Kachchh University Campus on Dt. 24/9/2004. All the 10 Colleges of Kachchh district previously affiliated to the Gujarat University, with the Notification No : GH/SH/5/KUG-2104-1648-Kh of Gujarat State affiliated to Kachchh University on 22-June-2004. The University is recognized under University Grants Commission 2(f) by the notification No : F:9-11/2003/CPP-1 Dated : 3-2-2004. The University is a provisional member of AIU (Association of Indian Universities). The University is also known as 'Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University'. It is named after the eminent leader Shyamji Krishna Verma of Kachchh, Gujarat, who was a great freedom fighter. It has been founded to provide a separate University for the region of Kachchh to promote higher education in the region of Kachchh. Today it has 28 Colleges under it with more than 15000 candidates.
