Junagadh Agricultural University is one of the 4 different Agricultural Universities in the State of Gujrat. Junagadh Agricultural came into existence from 1st May, 2004. Its foundation lies in the establishment of Gujarat Agricultural University which was established in February 1972 with the State-wide mandate for the triple function of Agricultural Education, Research, and Extension Education. For strengthening of these activities at regional level, the Gujarat Agricultural University is separated into four different Agricultural Universities in the State by Gujarat Agricultural University Act-2004. Junagadh Agricultural University is one of them. University's jurisdiction is spread over the districts of Junagadh, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar and Amreli of the Gujarat state. There are 7 multidisciplinary Main Research Stations, 5 Main Research Stations for various crops and 11 sub Research Stations/Testing Centres in the University for the development of new varieties/hybrids of crops, vegetables, and fruits. These centers also work for the development of economical and sustainable production technology packages for newly developed varieties/hybrids with its modification every year. The extension component includes five Krushi Vigyan Kendras (Jamnagar, Amreli, Targhadia, Khapat and Nana Kandhasar), one Sardar Smruti Kendra (Junagadh), Centre of Excellence of Training in Groundnut, Centre of Excellence on Soil-Water Management and a T & V scheme. For transfer of agriculture and allied technologies, Khedut Shibir, Group Discussion, Farmers Service, Agro-meteorological Advisory Services, Crop Demonstrations, Educational Tours, Seminars, Cattle Camps, Film Shows are also arranged under extension education programmes.

Junagadh Agricultural University Undergraduate Admission 2019

JAU offers UG courses with various specializations in the field of Agriculture. The University offers B.Sc. degree in Agriculture and Horticulture. The college also offers B.Tech degree in Agriculture and Engineering, Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries & Science (B.F.Sc.) and Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.).

The B.Sc., B.Tech, and B.F.Sc. courses are offered for a duration of four years, whereas, the B.V.Sc. & A.H. course is offered for a duration of five years at JAU.

The admission to all the UG courses is based on the GUJCET score of the Students. GUJCET stands for Gujarat Common Entrance Test organized by Gujarat State Education Board (GSEB) for Students who are giving their 12th (10+2) examination. Junagadh Agricultural University Postgraduate Admission 2019

JAU offers a number of PG courses in the Agriculture field. The University offers M.Sc. Agriculture, M.Sc. Horticulture, M.Tech., M.F.Sc., M.V.Sc. and M.B.A. in Agri-business. All these courses are offered for a period of two years. In addition, the University also offers a Postgraduate Diploma course in Agriculture I.T. for a duration of 18 months.

The application procedure for these courses starts by the last week of June. The eligible Students are required to sit for an entrance test organized by the University for various Postgraduate courses.

The basis of selection of Student for the admission shall be based on the merit. The merit list shall be prepared by giving 50:50 weightage to the marks of OGPA (percentage marks) of the last degree and common entrance test examination. However, a Student shall have to obtain 50% of marks in common entrance test examination to become eligible for the merit list.

Junagadh Agricultural University Ph.D. Admission 2019

Junagadh Agricultural University also offers the Ph.D. degree in various specializations in the field of Agriculture. All the Ph.D. courses are offered for a duration of three years.

The Ph.D. course is offered with 15 different specialization subjects. Students who are eligible for the course need to sit for an entrance test organized by the University and the final merit list will be prepared considering the marks obtained by the Students in the entrance test as well as the previous qualifying examination.
